R404A has a very high global warming potential (GWP 3,922). Since 1 January 2025, new (virgin) refrigerant with a GWP of 2,500 or more can't be used to service refrigeration systems holding 40 tonnes CO2e or more.

For R404A, 40 tonnes CO2e is about 10.2 kg of refrigerant. If your system is above that, it's time to plan ahead.

Do I have to replace my R404A system?

Not necessarily. Smaller systems are not affected by the servicing ban in the same way, and some larger systems can be retrofitted. We'll check your charge size and options.

What can R404A be replaced with?

There are several lower-GWP alternatives, and the right one depends on your system. We'll recommend the best option after a survey.

Will a retrofit affect performance?

A well-planned retrofit should keep the system holding temperature. We check and adjust components as part of the work.

How do I know how much refrigerant my system holds?

It's usually on the system label or in your F-Gas records. If not, we can find out during a visit.
